Does your microwave look like this?

Boy did this article hit it right on the head! I'm okay with cleaning except when it comes to mopping. Even as a teen I hated it. I never did a good job and as a result I had to mop all over again until the floor was clean. I'm pretty sure this is why I hate the chore. If I just had someone to do the prep work such as sweep the floor and remove everything from the kitchen, dining room and living room, AND have the bucket and mop ready, it wouldn't be such a tedious task.
I just remembered that I used to mop the floors periodically at McDonald's at my first job. Hated that too but at least they had a bucket that wrung the water out of the mop for you. I think they sell these at Home Depot. This could make it a better experience for me since I won't have to touch the dirty water. A few months back we had the kitchen floor steam cleaned. It was like having a whole new floor laid. Wow, what a difference that made! The technician told me not to clean the floor with over the counter soap. Instead, he said to use good old fashioned, and cheap, vinegar. Although it was stinky as I was mopping, the scent evaporated and my floors looked pretty good for a person who hates the experience.

In response to the article, here is what I have to say about my home:

#'s 1, 2 and 4. I'm saved by this one. Our refrigerator is a stainless steel built-in by Amana. I don't have access to the top, sides, or bottom. Yay!!

Bottom freezer by Amana

#3. I try to do this as needed. I cleaned the entire fridge at once and it took me over two hours. Now I do it in stages. The toughest part is cleaning the freezer. I'm still trying to figure out how to remove the drawer.

#5. This isn't so bad of a task but it can be forgotten at times. Luckily we just use it for popcorn, baked potatoes (okay, nuked), and warming up food. We don't use it to cook. I stopped that when I asked my daughter if she knew what a microwave was. She said it's what you make dinner in. I had to make a few changes after that answer.

#6. Another task I hate but when the dust bunnies started piling up, I decided to clean the multi task and clean the bathroom as I gave a child a bath. This gives them a few minutes of play time while I get in a few minutes of cleaning those often neglected spots.

#7. Basebards: Another childhood memory I would like to forget. I remember hearing from a childhood friend that we had the cleanest house on the blocks. After school while others did homework or played outside, we were in the house cleaning before we did anything else. I remember vividly cleaning my fare share of baseboards. Ugh....

#8. Umm....okay.

#9. Really? Who wants to cleaning behind books? The dust is hidden behind the books anyway so why bother it?

#10. Dusty blinds just kind of creep up on you, don't they? There is a service that cleans them which I discovered at the Long Island home show a few months back. I'm not sure how necessary it is. I'm just planning to remove them from the windows and hose them down with good old soap and water.
