Bedding Fit For A Princess

As you can imagine based on the title of this blog, I am deep into the Royal Wedding pageantry and can't get enough of it. As a mom of a prince and princess ages 2 and 5, I do not have enough hours in the day to watch all of the fanfare, but you best believe I am doing my best to keep up. What I can't watch I try to tape on the DVR and somewhere between now and the end of the year I will have watched it all. I have yet to decide what network is best to tape the day of the Royal nuptials, but when in doubt go CNN, right? I'm more interested in the gown, entrance, bouquet, reception, and after party than I am in the actual wedding ceremony. I have also decided to take my daughter on her first open model call at Wilhelmena Models Kids, during the actual wedding. Really? What horrible timing!!!!

Anyhoo, above you will see some very posh beds I found on Posh Tots, a company with elegant bedding and furniture with ridiculous prices only the elite or lottery winners can afford. Being that we live in an English Tudor style home, the coaches don't stand a chance in my daughter's room. However, the daybed is a possibility.

I Got My Wish!!

I am so excited about today! A few weeks ago, a friend sent me a link announcing that the Nate Berkus Show was looking for audience members for the taping of his new show airing in September 2010. If you remember this post, you'll remember that I wanted Nate to pimp my dining room. Well, he hasn't shown up at my door yet, but the moment I learned he was getting his own show AND it was taping in NYC, I stopped decorating my newly painted dining room. I was hoping he got word that I really don't know what I'm doing especially after painting the room a dark color. I have an idea of what I want to do but thought I would wait. Maybe he'll give the audience gift cards to a fabulous designer warehouse. I mean, this IS New York City!

Check back later this week to learn about my experience.

Fourth of July Table Decor

I think I just found my new favorite mommy blogger! Check
out Simply Creative Insanity and see the other creations this
mom has created.

My dad always had mason jars in the house.

Now I see what can be done with them.

Mason Jars dressed up with tags from Bella Grace Party Designs.

I used little galvanized snack buckets filled with pretzels for the place cards.

How cute is this place setting?

Enjoy your holiday. We'll be celebrating with family at home.
Our village fireworks will literally be in our backyard. Hmm...
maybe I will get to try some of this decor.

Party Decor: Cocktail & Shower Tags

Cocktail tags - $14.99/doz.

I have a few friends having babies this summer. Sweet Baby Shower Tags on sale for $5/doz.

I found these cute little cocktail tags here and fell in love with this site. As you see on the right hand column of my blog I have added a few of my favorite party blogs I now follow. Check it out! I'm always searching for cute ways to spruce up a table or party. I wonder what I'll use this for...

Click here for personalized cookies for any occasion. Unfortunately I wasn't able to upload the photo. I don't think $42/doz is a bad price to pay especially for your new arrival. No, I'm not pregnant. Two is enough for me.

Excited for the Long Island Home Show

What a busy weekend we have ahead of us! Today is my husband's 34th birthday so we'll be celebrating with him all day with gifts, cake, etc. The start of the day began with breakfast (I made sausage, egg, and cheese on a roll), a 9 a.m. soccer game, swim class was cancelled thank goodness, and Tae Kwon Do (husband) class. Later this afternoon, we'll head on over to the Long Island Home Show. I am so excited about this because there are a few things we need to improve at the house, and the bag full of free goodies you get at shows like these. We need a side screen door for sure, inspiration on indoor/outdoor decor, and I need some ideas on how to decorate my dining room. I love watching HGTV and thumbing through design mags for ideas but have no clue how to put them into action. Here are some of my favorites I found at http://www.myhomeideas.com/.

I love the buffet table and the placement of the photos on the wall. Our furniture is the same color as shown in this design. The white walls make the space very formal. That's a thought but with kids is it smart?

What stands out to me most in this shot is the faux paint on the walls. This brings texture to the room.

What captured my attention in this design is the circular rug and design on the ceiling. I also love the window treatments. This design is also giving me inspiration on how to decorate the top of my buffet.

The table cloth is exquisite in this design. Hanging a mirror on the dining room wall isn't a bad idea eather. I also love the scale of the floral arrangements in both rooms.

Nate Berkus: Come Pimp My Dining Room....Please?

I have a pretty large dining room and I have no clue how to decorate it. The issue I'm having is just. I had a grand idea of decorating it using an Italian theme, right? Two things have dashed that dream, in my mind anway. While in the Dominican Republic three years ago, we bought this beautiful painting.

While we lived in Brooklyn, we had it rolled up and stuck in a corner. Now that we've moved to a larger space, our wall space is limited to an art piece of this size. I love the coloring in the piece.

Here are some photos of the dining room taken from each angle. That's my daughter playing on the computer in the kitchen.

This is the view out of the front of the house. Another issue I have is window coverings. I visited a few places that specialized in window coverings but didn't purchase anything yet.

Another angle...

I just switched the centerpiece which I found at Kohl's yesterday for $10.97!! Not sure what to fill it with yet but I'm sure I'll find something.

While on a trip to Turkey about three years ago, my husband surprised me with a beautiful, authentic Turkish rug. It's a nice rug. I could probably fit it in with the Italian theme I want but I don't see how the artwork would fit in. I'm not sure what to do or where to start. While at a friend's party I found myself in a conversation about design. Her suggestion was to pull one color out of the carpet and paint the walls that same carpet. She said she is constantly redesigning her walls. I guess it wouldn't hurt. I wish Nate Berkus would show up at my house and come pimp my dining room. Nate?

If you know of any websites, blogs, design inspirations, etc. to help me decide where to start and what to do, please share.

Children's Room Murals

My kids have the cutest rooms! We live in a tudor style home which means none of the bedrooms have your average evenly squared walls. This is a good and bad thing actually. As I was shopping at Denny's Kids in Oceanside, NY I ran across Green Street Custom Design's business card. I have always wanted a mural on my children's walls. My son has the cutest room of them all. I'll post photos sometime in the future. He has two built-in mini cubbies. One I would love to turn into a space ship and the other could be a mini library or something to encourage studying and reading. Stay tuned! You can find more photos on Green Street's Facebook page.
